Access Arrangements assessment support

As a qualified Assessor of Psychometric Testing, Assessment and Access Arrangements, I work with SENCos and their teams to investigate and evidence appropriate Access Arrangements in line with current JCQ requirements.

Depending on the student and the areas the school wishes to explore, assessment can consider:

reading speed and fluency
handwriting and writing speed
cognitive processing and fluency, including relevant aspects of processing speed
mathematical fluency, where difficulties affecting Mathematics examinations need to be investigated
other relevant literacy measures where these are needed to understand the student’s pattern of difficulty

I can administer appropriate nationally standardised assessments, contribute the required assessment evidence and complete Part 2 of Form 8 where appropriate.

My role is not simply to provide test scores. I work collaboratively with the SENCo and school or college team, considering the assessment findings alongside their evidence of need and the student’s normal way of working. This allows the assessment to be focused on the areas the centre needs to investigate and helps inform appropriate next steps.

I have extensive experience of Access Arrangements assessment and can also provide advice where a SENCo wishes to discuss which areas would be most appropriate to assess before testing takes place.
